Celebrating Tulalip Day, in Marysville

Our penpals in Marysville prepared this video to celebrate Tulalip Day, a day to honor their heritage and culture. It’s celebrated each year the day before Thanksgiving.

See especially at 19’45, amazing danses and traditional clothing.

Thank you for sharing, dear penpals!

Letter from our penpals in Marysville (Seattle)!

We have a partnership with a school in Marysville, next to Seattle. Krista, who was an assistant in our school 2 years ago, has also worked in this school and her aunt is a teacher there.

Here is the nice letter we received, presenting the school.

Stories by Rayane and Oren (3rd grade – CE2)

1 story starter, 2 stories…

Story starter :

Once upon a time , there was a shy little girl…

because she met a creepy and scary person. She found a scary cemetary. She went to a tomb where is was written « Mary ». Then, the spirit of Mary transformed into an evil spirit because of the devil. So, Mary came alive and she became « Bloody Mary ».

Rayane, November 2020

Once upon a time , there was a shy little girl…

she was even shy with her family. Then, she had a nightmare about a shy devil, she tried to make a shy devil… And it worked !

She got along quite well, she had a lot of adventures with the devil. But she remembered her shyness and the next morning she didn’t meet the devil.

She didn’t even remember that she had met the devil. She continued to be lonely and have no friends. But the devil was always in the house, waiting for her . When the girl went to the bathroom, she saw the devil…and immediately, she fell in love with him !

Martin’s pumpkin pie (3rd grade)

On Tuesday, we made a pumpkin pie.

First, we made the pastry with : egg, flour, butter and sugar.

After that, we mashed the pumpkin and added sugar, spices and cream.

Then we baked the pie.

It was so delicious that it disappeared in two days. Maybe, it was a ghost!

Martin

Here is the full recipe (from I love English magazine) :

Dear friends, how are you? Last week, I played games outside, soccer, handball and « gamelle », maybe you know this game?

I also did two days of basketball with my club, and Martin was there too.

I watched a great movie, Paddington. This little bear is so funny!

Good holiday and happy Halloween.

Barthelemy.

Playing Bingo with our class (3rd graders)

On Tuesday, the 3rd graders of the SIA and their whole class played Bingo and then learned more about Halloween.

Now, we start to be good at counting till 90!

Hard work, and also lots of fun playing together (with pupils being trick-or-treaters at the end!)

Spelling Bee contest for the 4th and 5th graders!

What is a Spelling Bee? It’s a popular contest in the USA, where players have to spell words.

We shared this activity with all the class (not only the SIA pupils).

We had lots of fun playing but also worked hard to memorize the spelling of a list of words (numbers, days, months for all of us, and also English-speaking countries and some more difficult words for the bilingual pupils).

Congratulations to everyone for all your efforts. You can be proud of yourself!
