More about Thanksgiving (5th graders)

Thanksgving is a day when Americans celebrate the time when the Native Americans helped the Pilgrims. Today, they gather with their family for a big meal with turkey, mashed potatoes, cranberries, gravy, pie and much more. They also play football. On Thanksgiving, we say what we are thankful for.

(Klervie)

Thanksgiving is a holiday we celebrate in the USA. It all started in 1620 when the British came to American to start a settlement. When they arrived, they started building houses and farms to make a town. The name of their settlement was called Plymouth. Sadly, they arrived at the wrong time of the year , winter came and made it difficult for them to survive.

So, this English-speaking Indian named Squanto helped them and they made friends with the Indians. They had a great feast called Thanksgiving that we still celebrate today.

Thanksgiving is a holiday in America. It’s when we are with our family and friends. We eat turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy. We also play football or hockey with our family.

Thanksgiving is a traditional American holiday that is celebrated the fourth Thursday of November.

The first Thanksgiving was celebrated in 1621. We meet up with friends and family to celebrate this important holiday. We eat turkey, gravy, pie and mashed potatoes. We watch football.

It was originally when the Pilgrims arrived in America, the Native Americans helped them. In return, the Pilgrims had a celebration with the Native Americans.

(Oren)

Thanksgiving means « give thanks ». It is celebrated the 4th Thursday on November. This day, we say all the things we are thankful for.

In the USA, Thanksgiving is as important as Christmas.

(Anna)

The Pilgrims arrived by boat with the Mayflower in 1620. Winter was their worse season because it was cold and there was not a lot of food.

In spring, the Native Americans helped them, so at the end of the year, they had a big feast : the first Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving

What I have learnt about Thanksgiving (Rayane, 4th grade) : I learnt about the Mayflowr. The Mayflower was a boat with people from England (called the Pilgrims) who went to America in 1620. They found people called Native Americans. It was a cold winter, the Pilgrims were starving. the Native Americans helped them, they learnt how to grow corn. One year later, they made a big feast together. It was the first Thanksgiving.

Today, for Thanksgiving, we meet our families and have dinner with traditionnally turkey, mashed potatoes, green beans and a pumpkin pie. Thanksgiving is the 4th Thursday in November (Rayane)

See our wall of thanks (participation from all classes, from 1st to 5th grade) :

My first days in France, by Mateo (5th grade)

When I came to France, I was very very very VERY sad. Back in america, I had friends (really good friends) and a super good neighborhood. I even had a creek and woods where me friends could play .

America has bigger everything. Trucks, cars, roads, EVERYTHING. Even trees !

Speaking of which, they have a beautiful landscape and national parks. I really miss America for mostly everything. Even school !

My school was huge, it could fit 800 kids !

But still, I like France for food and other small things like canteen.

First days in 5th grade

New School Year Begins in Many Countries

Hello, I am Barthelemy and I am goind to present you my first days in 5th grade. My teacher is so nice and there are lotf of my friends in this class.

We did PE (sport) the first day.

We do lots of grammar, maths, spelling.

Sometimes, we are all ears !

We did 4 dictations and every Monday, we have pourcentages for our score. My best score is 98 %.

I am good in this class because it’s my level. It’s difficult and simple at the same time.

Goodbye !

Hello, I am Oren, and today, I am going to talk about my first days in 5th grade. It was very exciting and I was nervous. It was a bit easier than I thought because at home, I was doing a lot of grammar and spelling but I kind of did all that for nothing.

Not all the friends I had last year are in my class or in 5th grade because I skipped a grade.

So far, I like the thigs we’re doing but some things could be better like sports, which is not very intense (I like intense!).

It is definitely harder than last year’s work, so that’s good.

I felt like I grew a lot. It doesn’t feel at all the same as last year because last year, I really got used to the kids and teachers. But that’s kind of normal.
